Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in TAC Vista 3.0/4.0. This affects an unknown function in the library isalogin.dll of the component Web Interface. The manipulation of the argument Template with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in the web interface (ISALogin.dll) for TAC Vista 4.0, and possibly other versions before 4.3, allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via ".." sequences in the Template parameter.
The bug was discovered 09/01/2005. The weakness was disclosed 09/16/2005 by Dennis Rand (Website). The advisory is shared at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-3040 since 09/22/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
