A vulnerability was found in SAP Web Application Server up to 6.10 (Application Server Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file fameset.htm. The manipulation of the argument sap-syscmd with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in SAP Web Application Server (WAS) 6.10 through 7.00 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the sap-syscmd in sap-syscmd and (2) the BspApplication field in the SYSTEM PUBLIC test application.

The bug was discovered 09/23/2005. The weakness was disclosed 11/09/2005 by Leandro Meiners with Cybsec as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3635 since 11/16/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
