A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 2.6.15 (Operating System) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function time_out_leases of the file locks.c. The time_out_leases function in locks.c for Linux kernel before 2.6.15-rc3 allows local users to cause a denial of service (kernel log message consumption) by causing a large number of broken leases, which is recorded to the log using the printk function.
The bug was discovered 11/29/2005. The weakness was published 11/27/2005 as Bug 174337 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com.
