Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Trend Micro ServerProtect 5.58 (Anti-Malware Software). Affected is some unknown functionality of the file rptserver.asp of the component Management Console. The manipulation of the argument IMAGE with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

Directory traversal vulnerability in the Crystal Report component (rptserver.asp) in Trend Micro ServerProtect Management Console 5.58, as used in Control Manager 2.5 and 3.0 and Damage Cleanup Server 1.1, and possibly earlier versions, allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via the IMAGE parameter.

The bug was discovered 06/03/2005. The weakness was presented 12/14/2005 with iDefense (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-1930 since 06/08/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
