i-Educar is free, completely online school management software that allows school secretaries, teachers, coordinators and area managers. An attacker with only minimal viewing privileges in the settings section is able to change their user type to Administrator (or another type with super-permissions). Any user is capable of becoming an administrator, which can lead to account theft, changing administrative tasks, etc. The failure occurs in the file located in ieducar/intranet/educar_usuario_cad.php on line 446 , which does not perform checks on the user's current permission level to make changes. This issue has not yet been patched. Users are advised to contact the developer and to coordinate an update schedule.

Hello,

We are contacting you regarding CVE-2024-45058, which affects Portabilis i-Educar.

We would like to provide an update regarding the remediation of this vulnerability.

The vulnerability reported in the '/intranet/educar_usuario_cad.php' endpoint, allowing a user with minimal viewing privileges to change their own user type and escalate to Administrator (Improper Authorization), has been addressed in the i-Educar codebase.

The vulnerability is no longer reproducible starting with i-Educar version 2.9.

Therefore, we kindly request that the CVE record be updated to reflect the following product status:

Affected: i-Educar 2.8
Fixed / Unaffected: i-Educar 2.9 and later

The corrected version is publicly available in the official i-Educar repository:

The reported attack vector was tested against the corrected code, and the previously described privilege escalation behavior could no longer be reproduced.
