A vulnerability was found in PHPGedView up to 3.3.7 (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file help_text_vars.php. The manipulation of the argument PGV_BASE_DIRECTORY with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. Directory traversal vulnerability in help_text_vars.php in PHPGedView 3.3.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to read and include arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the PGV_BASE_DIRECTORY parameter.
The bug was discovered 12/20/2005. The weakness was disclosed 12/20/2005 by rgod (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at sourceforge.net.
