Details
A vulnerability has been found in PTZOptics PT30X-SDI and PT30X-NDI up to 6.3.39 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part. The manipulation of the argument ntp_addr with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
PTZOptics PT30X-SDI/NDI-xx before firmware 6.3.40 is vulnerable to an OS command injection issue. The camera does not sufficiently validate the ntp_addr configuration value which may lead to arbitrary command execution when ntp_client is started. When chained with CVE-2024-8956, a remote and unauthenticated attacker can execute arbitrary OS commands on affected devices.
The weakness was presented by Konstantin Lazarev. The advisory is available at ptzoptics.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-8957 since 09/17/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy.
