Details
A vulnerability was found in Directus up to 10.13.2/11.1.0. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-284. The product does not restrict or incorrectly restricts access to a resource from an unauthorized actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Directus is a real-time API and App dashboard for managing SQL database content. When relying on blocking access to localhost using the default `0.0.0.0` filter a user may bypass this block by using other registered loopback devices (like `127.0.0.2` - `127.127.127.127`). This issue has been addressed in release versions 10.13.3 and 11.1.0. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade may block this bypass by manually adding the `127.0.0.0/8` CIDR range which will block access to any `127.X.X.X` ip instead of just `127.0.0.1`.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-46990 since 09/16/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
