A vulnerability was found in Canonical Juju up to 2.9.50/3.1.9/3.3.6/3.4.5/3.5.3. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block. JUJU_CONTEXT_ID is a predictable authentication secret. On a Juju machine (non-Kubernetes) or Juju charm container (on Kubernetes), an unprivileged user in the same network namespace can connect to an abstract domain socket and guess the JUJU_CONTEXT_ID value. This gives the unprivileged user access to the same information and tools as the Juju charm.
The weakness was presented by Harry Pidcock as GHSA-mh98-763h-m9v4. The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2024-7558 since 08/06/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 2.9.51, 3.1.10, 3.3.7, 3.4.6 or 3.5.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
