Affected is some unknown processing of the file /var/lib/Juju/agents/unit-xxxx-yyyy/agent.socket of the component Unix Domain Socket Handler. Vulnerable juju hook tool abstract UNIX domain socket. When combined with an attack of JUJU_CONTEXT_ID, any user on the local system with access to the default network namespace may connect to the @/var/lib/juju/agents/unit-xxxx-yyyy/agent.socket and perform actions that are normally reserved to a juju charm.
The weakness was shared by Pedro Guimaraes as GHSA-8v4w-f4r9-7h6x. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2024-8037 since 08/21/2024. The exploitability is told to be difficult. Local access is required to approach this attack. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
