BEA WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 8.1 SP4 and earlier, and 7.0 SP6 and earlier, in certain "heavy usage" scenarios, report incorrect severity levels for an audit event, which might allow attackers to perform unauthorized actions and avoid detection.
The bug was discovered 10/12/2005. The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2005 (Website). The advisory is available at dev2dev.bea.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-4753 since 03/31/2006. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
