BEA WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 8.1 SP4 and earlier, 7.0 SP5 and earlier, and 6.1 SP7 and earlier log the Java command line at server startup, which might include sensitive information (passwords or keyphrases) in the server log file when the -D option is used.

The bug was discovered 10/11/2005. The weakness was published 12/31/2005 (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-4761 since 03/31/2006. The exploitation is known to be difficult. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
