BEA WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 9.0, 8.1, and 7.0 lock out the admin user account after multiple incorrect password guesses, which allows remote attackers who know or guess the admin account name to cause a denial of service (blocked admin logins).

The bug was discovered 10/11/2005. The weakness was presented 12/31/2005 (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-4764 since 03/31/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
