A vulnerability has been found in Microsoft Internet Explorer up to 6 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function NAFfileJPU. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was presented 09/11/2003 by Liu Die Yu as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The attack can be launched remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
