A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in 8pixel.net Simple Blog 2.1 (Blog Software). Affected is an unknown part of the file comments.asp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Simple Blog 2.1 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) a comment to comments.asp and (2) possibly certain other fields in unspecified scripts.
The weakness was disclosed 01/15/2006 by Zinho (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-0239 since 01/18/2006. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:comments.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
