A vulnerability was found in OpenBSD OpenSSH up to 3.7.1 (Connectivity Software). It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects the function buffer_append_space of the file buffer.c of the component OpenSSH. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 09/16/2003. The weakness was disclosed 09/16/2003 by Solar Designer with OpenSSH Team (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at openssh.com.
