A vulnerability was found in MyBB 1.0.3/1.0.4 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file misc.php. The manipulation of the argument comma with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in misc.php in MyBulletinBoard (MyBB) 1.03, when register_globals is enabled, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands by setting the comma variable value via the comma parameter in a cookie. NOTE: 1.04 has also been reported to be affected.
The weakness was presented 02/28/2006 by HACKERS PAL (Website). The advisory is available at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-0959. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
