CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.15.46/5.17.14/5.18.3. This affects the function blk_mq_run_hw_queues of the component blk_mq_get_sq_hctx. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: blk-mq: don't touch ->tagset in blk_mq_get_sq_hctx blk_mq_run_hw_queues() could be run when there isn't queued request and after queue is cleaned up, at that time tagset is freed, because tagset lifetime is covered by driver, and often freed after blk_cleanup_queue() returns. So don't touch ->tagset for figuring out current default hctx by the mapping built in request queue, so use-after-free on tagset can be avoided. Meantime this way should be fast than retrieving mapping from tagset.

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2022-49377 since 02/26/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 06/12/2025).

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 238226 (EulerOS 2.0 SP13 : kernel (EulerOS-SA-2025-1635)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 5.15.47, 5.17.15 or 5.18.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 460aa288c5cd0544dcf933a2f0ad0e8c6d2d35ff/b140bac470b4f707cda59c7266214246238661df/70fdd922c7bf8949f8df109cf2635dff64c90392/5d05426e2d5fd7df8afc866b78c36b37b00188b7 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at Tenable (238226). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
