mpengine.dll in Microsoft Malware Protection Engine before 1.1.10701.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (system hang) via a crafted file.
The weakness was released 06/17/2014 by Tavis Ormandy with Google Project Zero as 2974294 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at technet.microsoft.com. The public release was coordinated with Microsoft. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-2779 since 04/10/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely.
