A vulnerability was found in Invision Power Services IP.Board up to 2.1.x (Forum Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file action_admin/paysubscriptions.php. The manipulation of the argument name with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Directory traversal vulnerability in action_admin/paysubscriptions.php in Invision Power Board (IPB) 2.1.x and 2.0.x before 20060425 allows remote authenticated administrators to include and execute arbitrary local PHP files via a .. (dot dot) in the name parameter, preceded by enough backspace (%08) characters to erase the initial static portion of a filename.

The weakness was presented 04/25/2006 by IceShaman and Wells (Website). The advisory is shared at forums.invisionpower.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2060. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a exploit are known.
