CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.22/6.13.10/6.14.1. Affected by this vulnerability is the function io_uring_cmd_complete_in_task. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ublk: make sure ubq->canceling is set when queue is frozen Now ublk driver depends on `ubq->canceling` for deciding if the request can be dispatched via uring_cmd & io_uring_cmd_complete_in_task(). Once ubq->canceling is set, the uring_cmd can be done via ublk_cancel_cmd() and io_uring_cmd_done(). So set ubq->canceling when queue is frozen, this way makes sure that the flag can be observed from ublk_queue_rq() reliably, and avoids use-after-free on uring_cmd.

It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2025-22068 since 12/29/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 02/15/2026).

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 240657 (Ubuntu 25.04 : Linux kernel vulnerabilities (USN-7594-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 6.12.23, 6.13.11, 6.14.2 or 6.15-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 7e3497d7dacb5aee69dd9be842b778083cae0e75/5491400589e7572c2d2627ed6384302f7672aa1d/9158359015f0eda00e521e35b7bc7ebce176aebf/8741d0737921ec1c03cf59aebf4d01400c2b461a is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (240657), EUVD (EUVD-2025-11227) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-0844). Statistical analysis made it clear that VulDB provides the best quality for vulnerability data.
