Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 4.19.267/5.4.225/5.10.156/5.15.80/6.0.9. This affects the function first_realm of the component ceph. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: avoid putting the realm twice when decoding snaps fails When decoding the snaps fails it maybe leaving the 'first_realm' and 'realm' pointing to the same snaprealm memory. And then it'll put it twice and could cause random use-after-free, BUG_ON, etc issues.
