A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in KnowledgeTree 3.0.3 (Knowledge Base Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file view.php. The manipulation of the argument fSearchableText with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in KnowledgeTree Open Source 3.0.3 and earlier allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) fDocumentId parameter in view.php and the (2) fSearchableText parameter in /search/simpleSearch.php.
The weakness was published 06/06/2006 by r0t (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-2885 since 06/07/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
