A vulnerability was found in libexif up to 0.6.13. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code of the component EXIF Information Handler. Integer overflow in the exif_data_load_data_entry function in exif-data.c in libexif before 0.6.14 allows user-assisted remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted EXIF data, involving the (1) doff or (2) s variable.
The bug was discovered 05/10/2007. The weakness was disclosed 05/11/2007 by Victor Stinner with INL (Website). The advisory is shared at sourceforge.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-2645 since 05/14/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days.
