A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in PHP up to 4.4.2 (Programming Language Software). This issue affects the function unset of the file zend_hash.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a remote code execution vulnerability. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
zend_hash_del_key_or_index in zend_hash.c in PHP before 4.4.3 and 5.x before 5.1.3 can cause zend_hash_del to delete the wrong element, which prevents a variable from being unset even when the PHP unset function is called, which might cause the variable s value to be used in security-relevant operations.
The bug was discovered 08/29/2006. The weakness was shared 05/01/2006 by Stefan Esser (Website). The advisory is shared at issues.rpath.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-3017 since 06/14/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
