The png_handle_tRNS function in pngrutil.c in libpng before 1.0.25 and 1.2.x before 1.2.17 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a grayscale PNG image with a bad tRNS chunk CRC value.

The bug was discovered 05/15/2007. The weakness was shared 05/16/2007 with libpng Project (Website). The advisory is shared for download at kent.dl.sourceforge.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-2445 since 05/02/2007. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
