A vulnerability was found in PHP-Fusion up to 6.01.2 (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file submit.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in submit.php in PHP-Fusion before 6.01.3 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML by using edit_profile.php to upload a (1) avatar or (2) forum image attachment that has a .gif or .jpg extension, and begins with a GIF header followed by JavaScript code, which is executed by Internet Explorer.
The weakness was disclosed 07/12/2006 (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-3555 since 07/12/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely.
