Details
A vulnerability was found in Pi-hole Web up to 3.3 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component AdminLTE Interface. The manipulation of the argument domain with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An authenticated command injection vulnerability exists in Pi-hole versions up to 3.3. When adding a domain to the allowlist via the web interface, the domain parameter is not properly sanitized, allowing an attacker to append OS commands to the domain string. These commands are executed on the underlying operating system with the privileges of the Pi-hole service user. This behavior was present in the legacy AdminLTE interface and has since been patched in later versions.
The weakness was published by Denis Andzakovic. The advisory is shared at raw.githubusercontent.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-34087 since 04/15/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
