Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in IGEL OS. It has been classified as very critical. Affected is an unknown functionality of the component Secure Terminal Services/Secure Shadow Services. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

A command injection vulnerability exists in IGEL OS versions prior to 11.04.270 within the Secure Terminal and Secure Shadow services. The flaw arises due to improper input sanitization in the handling of specially crafted PROXYCMD commands on TCP ports 30022 and 5900. An unauthenticated attacker with network access to a vulnerable device can inject arbitrary commands, leading to remote code execution with elevated privileges. NOTE: IGEL OS v10.x has reached end-of-life (EOL) status.

The weakness was released by Rob Vinson. The advisory is available at raw.githubusercontent.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-34082 since 04/15/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
