A vulnerability was found in Coppermine Photo Gallery up to 1.4.11 (Photo Gallery Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the file Albmgr.PHP of the component Cookie Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.4.10 and earlier allow remote authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary SQL commands via (1) the cat parameter to albmgr.php, and possibly (2) the gid parameter to usermgr.php; (3) the start parameter to db_ecard.php; and the albumid parameter to unspecified files, related to the (4) filename_to_title and (5) del_titles functions.

The weakness was disclosed 06/29/2007 by DarkFig with Coppermine Team (Website). The advisory is shared at coppermine-gallery.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-0122 since 01/08/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed by DarkFig and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 4 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. By approaching the search of inurl:Albmgr.PHP it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.
