Summary

A vulnerability was found in Novell GroupWise WebAccess up to 6.4 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Login Page. The manipulation of the argument GWAPversion with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the login page in Novell GroupWise WebAccess 6.5 before 20060721 and WebAccess 7 before 20060727 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the GWAP.version parameter.
The weakness was published 08/11/2006 by Francisco Amato with Cisco (Website). The advisory is available at secure-support.novell.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-3818 since 07/24/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 6.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
