A vulnerability was found in PHP 5.1/5.1.0/5.1.1/5.1.2/5.1.4 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects the function lwzreadbyte_ in the library ext/gd/libgd/gd_gif_in.c of the component GD Extension. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in the LWZReadByte_ function in ext/gd/libgd/gd_gif_in.c in the GD extension in PHP before 5.1.5 allows remote attackers to have an unknown impact via a GIF file with input_code_size greater than MAX_LWZ_BITS, which triggers an overflow when initializing the table array.
The bug was discovered 08/17/2006. The weakness was published 08/31/2006 (Website). The advisory is shared at php.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-4484 since 08/31/2006.
