A vulnerability was found in Welotec SmartEMS Web Application up to 3.3.5. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component Request Header Handler. The manipulation of the argument Upload-Key with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The upload endpoint insufficiently validates the 'Upload-Key' request header. By supplying path traversal sequences, an authenticated attacker can cause the server to create upload-related artifacts outside the intended storage location. In certain configurations this enables arbitrary file write and may be leveraged to achieve remote code execution.
The advisory is shared for download at certvde.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-41714 since 04/16/2025. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
