Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Redis up to 8.2.1. Affected is an unknown functionality of the component Lua Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Redis is an open source, in-memory database that persists on disk. Versions 8.2.1 and below allow an authenticated user to use a specially crafted Lua script to cause an integer overflow and potentially lead to remote code execution The problem exists in all versions of Redis with Lua scripting. This issue is fixed in version 8.2.2.
