CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.4.228/5.10.162/5.15.85/6.0.15/6.1.1. Affected by this vulnerability is the function pci_get_dev_wrapper. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a reference count vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-911. The product uses a reference count to manage a resource, but it does not update or incorrectly updates the reference count. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: EDAC/i10nm: fix refcount leak in pci_get_dev_wrapper() As the comment of pci_get_domain_bus_and_slot() says, it returns a PCI device with refcount incremented, so it doesn't need to call an extra pci_dev_get() in pci_get_dev_wrapper(), and the PCI device needs to be put in the error path.

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2022-50645 since 12/09/2025. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 278039 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2022-50645), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 5.4.229, 5.10.163, 5.15.86, 6.0.16 or 6.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch e6e295a434d1c917a017980389aec88bf35cc81b/2db53c7059167b63cc790366ef1a9e286e71980b/3e255dc21031cc1f341584eb99a7f31598bf0be7/1adb2583cdbd75f379e3230a43a7412d373d499f/f29c2f57cdf7a57223dcd9fbaa2261faab5234b2/9c8921555907f4d723f01ed2d859b66f2d14f08e is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
