Clam AntiVirus (ClamAV) 0.88.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (stack overflow and application crash) by wrapping many layers of multipart/mixed content around a document, a different vulnerability than CVE-2006-5874 and CVE-2006-6406.

The weakness was presented 01/11/2007 by Hendrik Weimer (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-6481. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165109 (SUSE Security Update for ClamAV (SUSE-SA:2006:078)).
