Stack-based buffer overflow in IrfanView 3.99 and 4.00 allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted palette (.pal) file.

The bug was discovered 10/15/2007. The weakness was disclosed 10/16/2007 by Stefan Cornelius with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared for download at secunia.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-4343 since 08/14/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
