Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.1. This issue affects the function hfs_correct_next_unused_CNID. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfs: fix potential use after free in hfs_correct_next_unused_CNID() This code calls hfs_bnode_put(node) which drops the refcount and then dreferences "node" on the next line. It's only safe to use "node" when we're holding a reference so flip these two lines around.
