Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.159/6.6.119/6.12.63/6.18.2. Affected is the function dtv5100_i2c_msg of the component media. The manipulation of the argument rlen with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: dvb-usb: dtv5100: fix out-of-bounds in dtv5100_i2c_msg() rlen value is a user-controlled value, but dtv5100_i2c_msg() does not check the size of the rlen value. Therefore, if it is set to a value larger than sizeof(st->data), an out-of-bounds vuln occurs for st->data. Therefore, we need to add proper range checking to prevent this vuln.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-68819 since 12/24/2025. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
