Details
A vulnerability was found in Brocade Fabric OS up to 9.2.1c1. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function source/ping6/sleep/disown/wait. The manipulation of the argument path with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-35. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize '.../...//' (doubled triple dot slash) sequences that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability in Brocade Fabric OS before 9.2.1c2 could allow an authenticated attacker with admin privileges using the shell commands “source, ping6, sleep, disown, wait to modify the path variables and move upwards in the directory structure or to traverse to different directories.
The advisory is shared for download at support.broadcom.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-58381 since 08/29/2025. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
