Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Webfwlog 0.92. This affects an unknown function of the file include/debug.php. The manipulation of the argument conffile with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
include/debug.php in Webfwlog 0.92 and earlier, when register_globals is enabled, allows remote attackers to obtain source code of files via the conffile parameter. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information. It is likely that this issue can be exploited to conduct directory traversal attacks.
The weakness was presented 01/29/2007 by GoLd_M (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-0585 since 01/30/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
