Format string vulnerability in the afsacl.so VFS module in Samba 3.0.6 through 3.0.23d allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in a filename on an AFS file system, which is not properly handled during Windows ACL mapping.
The bug was discovered 02/05/2007. The weakness was disclosed 02/06/2007 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-0454 since 01/23/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
