A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in phpBB Advanced Guestbook 2.4 (Forum Software). This affects some unknown processing of the file guestbook.php. The manipulation of the argument entry with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in guestbook.php in Advanced Guestbook 2.4 for phpBB allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the entry parameter. NOTE: this issue might be resultant from SQL injection.
The weakness was published 03/02/2007 by Handrix (Website). The advisory is shared at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-7076 since 02/27/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
