Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in parse-community parse-server up to 8.6.59/9.6.0-alpha.53. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a toctou vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-367. The product checks the state of a resource before using that resource, but the resource's state can change between the check and the use in a way that invalidates the results of the check. This can cause the product to perform invalid actions when the resource is in an unexpected state. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:

Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to versions 8.6.60 and 9.6.0-alpha.54, an attacker who obtains a user's password and a single MFA recovery code can reuse that recovery code an unlimited number of times by sending concurrent login requests. This defeats the single-use design of recovery codes. The attack requires the user's password, a valid recovery code, and the ability to send concurrent requests within milliseconds. This issue has been patched in versions 8.6.60 and 9.6.0-alpha.54.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-33624 since 03/23/2026. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

Upgrading to version 8.6.60 or 9.6.0-alpha.54 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 5e70094250a36bfcc14ecd49592be2b94fba66ff is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
