Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.16/6.19.6/7.0-rc1. Affected is the function check_add_overflow of the component amdxdna. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: accel/amdxdna: Prevent ubuf size overflow The ubuf size calculation may overflow, resulting in an undersized allocation and possible memory corruption. Use check_add_overflow() helpers to validate the size calculation before allocation.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-23280 since 01/13/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/01/2026).
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 304074 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2026-23280), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 6.18.17, 6.19.7 or 7.0-rc2 eliminates this vulnerability.
