A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Giorgio Ciranni Splatt Forum 4.0 (Forum Software). This affects some unknown processing of the file bbcode_ref.php. The manipulation of the argument name with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in bbcode_ref.php in the Giorgio Ciranni Splatt Forum 4.0 RC1 module for PHP-Nuke allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the name parameter, as demonstrated by injecting PHP sequences into an Apache HTTP Server log file, which is then included by bbcode_ref.php.
