A vulnerability was found in GFI HelpDesk up to 4.99.9 and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function SWIFT_Report::Create of the component Reports Module. The manipulation of the argument report title with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. Impacted is integrity. GFI HelpDesk before 4.99.10 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Reports module where the title parameter is passed directly to SWIFT_Report::Create() without HTML sanitization. Attackers can inject arbitrary JavaScript into the report title field when creating or editing a report, and the payload executes when staff members view and click the affected report link in the Manage Reports interface.
The weakness was shared by Alex Williams. The advisory is shared at gfi.ai. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-23757 since 01/15/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. Upgrading to version 4.99.10 eliminates this vulnerability.
