A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in IBM Lotus Domino up to 6.5.5 (Groupware Software). Affected is an unknown code of the file nimap.exe of the component Authentication Mechanism. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability (EasyBee). Buffer overflow in the CRAM-MD5 authentication mechanism in the IMAP server (nimap.exe) in IBM Lotus Domino before 6.5.6 and 7.x before 7.0.2 FP1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a long username.

The weakness was released 03/28/2007 with iDEFENSE (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-1675 since 03/24/2007. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
