CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.134/6.12.81/6.18.22/6.19.12. Affected by this vulnerability is the function lan966x_fdma_rx_alloc_page_pool of the component net. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a infinite loop vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-835. The product contains an iteration or loop with an exit condition that cannot be reached, i.e., an infinite loop. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: lan966x: fix page_pool error handling in lan966x_fdma_rx_alloc_page_pool() page_pool_create() can return an ERR_PTR on failure. The return value is used unconditionally in the loop that follows, passing the error pointer through xdp_rxq_info_reg_mem_model() into page_pool_use_xdp_mem(), which dereferences it, causing a kernel oops. Add an IS_ERR check after page_pool_create() to return early on failure.

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-31646 since 03/09/2026. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 310291 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2026-31646), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 6.6.135, 6.12.82, 6.18.23 or 6.19.13 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch e63265f188ea39dcf5f546770650027528f3bd0f/305832c53551cfbe6e5b81ca7ee765e60f4fe8e9/b5dcb41ba891b55157006cac79825c78a32b409e/7caf90d9ab97951a58d1de85ab7e7d7cca7a4513/3fd0da4fd8851a7e62d009b7db6c4a05b092bc19 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (310291) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-1279). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
