Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in cyberhobo Geo Mashup Plugin up to 1.13.18 on WordPress. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function esc_sql of the file render-map.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Time-Based SQL Injection via the 'sort' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.18. This is due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. The `esc_sql()` function is applied but is ineffective in the `ORDER BY` context because the value is not enclosed in quotes. Additionally, while a `sanitize_sort_arg()` allowlist-based sanitizer was added in version 1.13.18, it is only applied in the AJAX code path (`sanitize_query_args()`) and not in the `render-map.php` or template tag code paths. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database via a time-based blind approach.

The weakness was published by Naoya Takahashi. The advisory is shared at wordfence.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-4060 since 03/12/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/03/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
